Why a HEIA Community of Interest?
The purpose of the Health Equity Impact Assessment (HEIA) Community of Interest (CoI) is to build evidence on the effectiveness of the Ontario HEIA tool. Our goal is to increase the use of HEIA to reduce inequities in access, use and outcomes of health and related services in Ontario.
This Community of Interest is intended for planners, policymakers, researchers and service providers who have an interest in and commitment to health equity and, in particular, the HEIA and similar planning tools. The CoI champions implementation of HEIA in Ontario and encourages the sharing of HEIA results.
The work of this CoI supports Ontario's key priorities, decision-making frameworks, and legislation including the Excellent Care for All Act, Patients First Act, the Local Health System Integration Act, and the French Language Service Act.
