Meet Our People

The Azrieli Self-Advocate Advisory Group is made up of adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities who play a pivotal role in shaping our centre's projects and programs. Here, individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities are active contributors to research projects, education and training, and knowledge exchange activities, lending their unique perspectives, insights, and lived experiences to efforts across the centre. The Caregiver Advisory Group serves as an integral strategic partner, collaborating in research, knowledge translation and dissemination, education, and training at the Azrieli Adult Neurodevelopmental Centre. As caregivers to loved ones with neurodevelopmental disabilities and mental health issues, advisors provide a lens of lived experience, offering input into research questions, methods and data interpretation. They inform, design and co-facilitate education webinars and workshops for caregivers, researchers at CAMH, service providers and the public. When providing feedback on CAMH material, caregiver advisors provide rich, critically reflective dialogue advocating for, and alongside, people with neurodevelopmental disabilities and mental health service users. The Caregiver Engagement Network is a community of caregivers of adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities who meet multiple times a year to connect and learn about ongoing Azrieli Adult Neurodevelopmental Centre projects, activities, and research around mental health and developmental disabilities.
