TIDES works with other health care and community organizations
CAMH also works with other health care organizations or community support services to customize TIDES in ways that satisfy their needs. To do this, the TIDES team includes experts from within an organization and blends the best clinical practices with the results of literature reviews and insights based on more than 20 years of experience in safety education at CAMH.
The TIDES program can help staff strengthen their skills in:
- building positive relationships, especially between the people providing care and those receiving it (often referred to as service providers and service users)
- collaborating as a care team before, during and after a crisis or emergency
- examining the safety of the places where they work
- reducing risks and potential injuries for everyone involved in these situations.
TIDES builds on a foundation of being trauma-informed (see above for more) and person-centred approaches to care, which focuses on a person’s needs, working with them to meet those needs, and treating people with dignity and respect. The TIDES team can adapt the program for any health care or community support service, such as:
- acute care
- aftercare
- community support
- inpatient care
- long-term care
- mental health care/services
- outpatient care
- residential and rehabilitation services
- transitional care.
