Workplaces can be an essential part of positive mental health. We spend more of our waking hours at work than anywhere else, so the issues of mental health at work important. See below for some recent reports on how to best achieve a healthy workplace in honour of Healthy Workplace Month 2018.
WHO Healthy Workplace Framework and Model: Background and Supporting Literature and Practices (2010)
From the World Health Organization
- A report on how work affects employee health, physical safety, mental health, wellbeing, and interventions on how to make a workplace healthy. Also has info on how to develop a Healthy Workplace Framework, along with examples from workplaces worldwide.

The National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (AKA The Standard) (2013)
From the Mental Health Commission of Canada
- A guideline that is the first of its kind in the world! Info on recommended guidelines, tools and resources to help organizations in promote mental health and prevent psychological harm in the workplace. Adapting the recommendations can help workplaces achieve productivity, increase financial performance, employee retention and other returns on investment. Also includes case studies from select organizations.

Psychological Health in the Workplace (2017)
From the Government of Canada
- This Guideline is meant to supplement the more comprehensive National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. This intro to workplace psychological health includes on strategies for improving workplace psychological health, risk factors for poor workplace psychological health, and recommends resources.
