Program Overview
CAMH's Complex Care General Psychiatric Unit provides short-term intensive inpatient care for a diverse population of individuals with severe mental illness, including substance use disorders.
The treatment team includes psychiatrists, registered nurses, registered practical nurses, social workers, recreation therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, dieticians, and program assistants. We offer treatment in a supportive environment that respects diversity, focuses on harm reduction, and is recovery-oriented.
- This unit includes general psychiatric ward beds and Psychiatric Intensive Care Beds (PICU). PICU beds support treatment for individuals who require high levels of observation and intervention related to their illness.
- Offer group programming including psycho-education, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) skills, trauma education, relapse prevention, and a variety of recreation groups and activities.
CAMH is committed to placing diversity, equity, and inclusion at the centre of our work. Read more about health equity at CAMH here.
