Areas of Research
Dr. Shen’s research lies at the intersection of digital health, mental health, and implementation sciences. He specializes in using design thinking and service design approaches to engage patients and other knowledge users in digital innovation at the Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics and broadly at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. He strongly advocates for innovations to be grounded in lived experience and asks “how might we” design technologies, services, processes, and policies that empower those needing and providing care.
A focal point in Dr. Shen’s research portfolio is the exploration of patient privacy and trust. The objective of this work is to engage the public to identify and design ways to foster trust and acceptance in an ever-evolving digital health and AI eco-system.
