Dr. Marco Battaglia is a senior scientist at the Cundill Centre for Child and Youth Depression at CAMH. He is also full professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.
Areas of Research
Dr. Battaglia's research interests fall broadly into developmental psychopathology and genetic epidemiology, mostly of anxiety and depressive disorders. He studies individuals, twins, and families from both general population and clinical samples by employing intermediate markers (ERPs, fMRI, DTI, respiratory measures, nocioception) that map specific physiological functions en route between liability factors and behaviour. Another area of interest relates to the gene-environment interplays and epigenetic modelling of early parental separation: how this common adversity impacts upon behaviour and how it affects specific neurophysiological functions that are common to preclinical models and humans.
