Dr. Lucas Narciso is a staff scientist with the Brain Health Imaging Centre at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Narciso is a medical physicist who earned a PhD in Medical Biophysics from Western University in January 2022. During his doctoral studies, he explored the capabilities of a hybrid PET/MR scanner in non-invasively imaging cerebral hemodynamics and oxygen metabolism.
Areas of Research
Dr. Narciso’s research interests focus on neuroimaging by position emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Specifically, developing novel non-invasive approaches, algorithms, and computational tools to advance the field of PET kinetic modelling. He is also interested in investigating the potential of MRI as a radiation-free alternative to PET when studying the human brain.
At CAMH, he is part of the PET and MR imaging methodology team, which is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and protocols for the analysis of clinical and preclinical PET neuroimaging data. His role is specially focused on the quantification of dynamic PET data by means of kinetic modelling.
