Dr. Joyce Mason is a scientist and health economist with the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), and an assistant professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto.
Dr. Mason received her MSc in Epidemiology from Western University and PhD in Health Services Research (health economics stream) at the University of Toronto.
Areas of Research
Dr. Mason has research interests in the economics of mental health, namely immigrant mental health, and health services and policy research applied to mental health. She has expertise in evaluating health care programs and interventions using economic and epidemiological methods. Her previous work has focused on understanding how mental health reporting differs by type of data (i.e., administrative health care and survey data), evaluating the cost-effectiveness of interventions on mental health, estimating the economic burden associated with mental health, and examining the impact of immigration policy changes on mental health care utilization among immigrants.
