Dr. Jo Henderson is a senior scientist with the McCain Centre for Child, Youth and Family Mental Health at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Henderson is also the Chief Scientific Officer with Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario & Integrated Youth Services and the Co-Executive Director of the newly launched pan-Canadian Integrated Youth Services Collaboration Centre, and was the founding Executive Director of Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario until 2025.
Dr. Henderson received their PhD in School and Clinical Child Psychology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. In 2025, Dr. Henderson was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for their exceptional contributions and dedication to the betterment of Ontario and Canada. Dr. Henderson was also recently awarded the Elizabeth Manson Award for their exceptional contributions in child and youth mental health.
Areas of Research
Dr. Henderson’s passion and research focuses on improving access to care, service experiences and outcomes with and for youth with substance use and mental health concerns and their families. Dr. Henderson is committed to youth and family engagement, equity-focused approaches, partnership, knowledge exchange, and continuous learning.
Dr. Henderson currently leads multiple projects across Canada that focus on strengthening youth systems of care through amplifying youth voices, building cross-sectoral networks of community partners, and building data governance models that are equity focused and centre youth perspectives.
