Dr. Helen Lee is an associate scientist at the Temerty Centre for Therapeutic Brain Intervention. She is a subspecialist in geriatric psychiatry and is a staff psychiatrist within the General Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems Division and the Adult Neurodevelopment and Geriatric Psychiatry Division. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. Dr. Lee completed a MSc in neuroscience at Queen’s University. She obtained her MD degree at Western University and completed her residency training in psychiatry and subspecialty residency in geriatric psychiatry at the University of Toronto.
AREAS OF RESEARCH
Dr. Lee’s research focuses on the use of interventional psychiatry treatments for refractory psychiatric disorders. Her main research focuses on novel therapeutics for late life mood disorders and integration of clinical, physiological, and neuroimaging biomarkers. She is the principal investigator on a clinical trial using repetitive magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for treatment-resistant late life depression, which is supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. She is also a co-investigator on multiple clinical trials using different brain stimulation modalities.
