This study aims to examine if cannabidiol (CBD) can reduce alcohol consumption and cravings. You will receive CBD and placebo over two 10-day periods. Towards the end of each 10 day period, you will come into the lab to see if the medication affects your drinking. You will be provided compensation at the end of the study.
What will happen during this study?
- 3-4 hours of in-person eligibility assessments involving lab tests
- 2 short in-person visits – medication pick up
- 2 long in-person visits – alcohol administration and substance use assessments
We are looking for individuals that are:
- 19 years of age or older
- Consume alcohol daily or almost daily
- Have no liver damage or disease
- Are NOT currently receiving treatment for alcohol use disorder
- Willing to abstain from cannabis during the study period
- Willing to take study medication and participate in laboratory sessions
