Study Information:
Researchers at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) are looking for adults (ages 18+) for a study on online support programs and peer support in helping those with substance use concerns. Participants in the study will receive 1 of 3 supports, for a period of 8 weeks, in addition to their standard care or current treatment:
- Online group peer support
- Online support tool (“Breaking Free Online”)
- Online support tool with individual peer support
We will ask you to complete 2 assessments, either on your computer at home or in-person at CAMH (before and after support period). Each assessment can take around 1 – 1.5 hours to complete. These assessments involve completing interviews and questionnaires.
Participants will also be asked to complete brief online surveys every 2 weeks during the 8 week treatment period. After the 8 week support period participants will be asked to complete a short questionnaire once a month for 5 months, before completing a final assessment (1-1.5 hours).
Participants enrolled in the study will receive gift cards as compensation for their time in completing the research visits.
You may be eligible for the study if you have been using substances in the past 30 days and have been seeking or are receiving treatment for your substance use. You will need to qualify in order to participate in the study.
