Deciding what to work on first
Discuss the program with your relative. Talk to your relative about why you want to use this program and how it might be linked to their goals.
Consider timing. Like a lot of new projects, the best time to start the conversation is when you are in a good point in your relationship with your relative or having a positive interaction.
Think through and discuss how the collaboration will work—asking for their input throughout. If you are approaching this intervention as a family, you might want to have a conversation with them first about the best strategy before speaking to your relative.
Discuss together what specific skills or areas of daily life would be best to work on.
Tie the specific skills you are working on to one of your relative’s long-term goals.
