Anne-Marie Newton serves as Chief Philanthropy Officer at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Foundation. With over 20 years in the field of institutional advancement, she has devoted her career to securing philanthropic support for leading education and healthcare organizations in the United States and Canada.
Prior to joining CAMH Foundation, Anne-Marie served in progressively senior roles at Duke University, Crescent School and SickKids Foundation. She specializes in engagement and fundraising best practices for donors at all levels, with a focus on individuals and private foundations giving at the seven- and eight-figure levels to large, complex academic institutions. She has deep experience with comprehensive fundraising campaigns, particularly with the $2.3B Campaign for Duke, the $1.5B SickKids VS Campaign and the $500M No One Left Behind Campaign at CAMH. In addition to frontline fundraising, Anne-Marie has expertise working with academic and clinical leaders to set funding priorities and strategy, aligning institutional needs with donors’ interests. She continues to oversee functions including community and alumni engagement, gift and estate planning, donor stewardship and recognition, brand and communications, research services, business operations and finance and enterprise risk management to support fundraising operations.
A longstanding leader in the fundraising and advancement field with deep commitment to operationalizing inclusion, equity, diversity and access into academic and healthcare fundraising, she focuses her management efforts on values-based team leadership, cross-functional collaboration and individual mentorship.
Anne-Marie is originally from Yarmouth, Maine and holds an Honours B.A. in English and History from Duke University. She lives in Toronto with her husband and two sons.
