Title: “Bigger Than Me”
"Bigger Than Me reverberates with the essential human experience. At a macro level, the diptych evokes contemplation of each of our place in the universe and at a micro level, seeing ourselves as part of our communities. The images radiate out from a central focus, allowing each person to place themselves at the centre of something much larger than themselves, anchored in the comfort that exists when one can safely venture out, bringing both your own light to others and being nourished by the vibrancy and diversity beyond yourself.
Bigger Than Me invites the viewer both inward and outward – essential components in healing and a journey of recovery. The images show movement simultaneously toward a central source of deep colour and the movement of that core outward, leaping in and out of the excitement of colour beyond the core.
Bigger Than Me sets the stage for conversations and quiet contemplation about a path forward, reflecting infinite possibilities, the option to move around and experiment, the subtle movement of one’s lens from internal to external and back, and the crackling excitement of what lies beyond.
The Bigger Than Me diptych provides a connection to nature – one panel being more focused on the earth and the other being evocative of the sky, reminding us to look both up and down for calm, inspiration and hope."
