Title: “Untitled from rock series”
"The artworks submitted from Rock Series are part of a larger photographic body of work about land that conveys my interest in nature, geology and natural history. I believe in the ability of art to restore and heal, and in the existence of transformative places that offer respite and repair. The photographs in this series are of rock that has been moved and deposited by glaciers that once covered Canada.
These rocks often appear out-of-place within their surroundings, anomalies in the landscape and are visible to boaters, canoeists, kayakers, giving them a landmark to direction and place. It also represents a time of change in geological history and I was drawn to it because of its location and presence, and its imaginable shape-shifting story. It also speaks about powerful struggles and changes in the natural world."
