As our two new hospital buildings near full completion and we prepare to open them for patient care in late November, we are also moving forward with our final stages of the Phase 1C redevelopment project.
During this final stage, we will deliver on our plans to extend Stokes Street to Shaw Street and decommission and demolish Units 2 & 4, grounds building, the old green house and the maintenance building. Preparation work on this stage has already begun and is expected to be complete by December 2021.
This week, tree protection zones will be installed in numerous locations on our Queen Street site. These zones will ensure the trees and other foliage remain unharmed during the construction process. We will also be removing trees outside of these protection zones to enable the Stokes Street extension and expansion of the Shaw Street parking lot. Every tree removed will have a new one planted in its place, and many have already been supplemented elsewhere on site as part of the Phase 1C Redevelopment Project.
