It’s National Non-Smoking Week. It’s a time to:
- Educate Canadians about the dangers of smoking
- Prevent people who do not smoke from beginning to smoke and becoming addicted to tobacco
- Help people quit smoking
- Promote the right of individuals to breathe air unpolluted by tobacco smoke
- Denormalize the tobacco industry, tobacco industry marketing practices, tobacco products, and tobacco use
- Assist in the attainment of a smoke-free society in Canada
Interested in finding research on smoking in PubMed at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/ ? Take note that the National Library of Medicine has updated and expanded smoking related MeSH terms. The newly introduced 2018 MeSH terms are: Tobacco Smoking, Cigar Smoking, Cigarette Smoking, Smokers, Smoking Non-Tobacco Products, Smoking Devices, Smoking Prevention and Smoking Reduction.
Don’t know much about MeSH? Or about the database PubMed either? Ready and waiting is an older post on MeSH at http://www.camhblog.ca/2015/01/05/lib-mesh-terms2015/. And to learn more about PubMed visit https://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/factsheets/pubmed.html.
