TORONTO, April 27, 2017 - CAMH welcomes Ontario’s Budget today as a significant step forward in building a strong and recovery focused mental health system.
CAMH is thrilled to receive support to proceed with our transformational redevelopment at Queen and Ossington. This fourth and final phase will see the completion of our vision to create safe and dignified settings for our most vulnerable patients, transforming our hospital and our neighbourhood along Queen West.
Mental health has historically been underfunded, leaving gaps in care and supports for those most in need. The investments in housing and life-saving treatments like structured psychotherapy, the investment in mental health and addiction services for people in the prison population, and the introduction of free access to prescription medicine for young Ontarians will aid us in our efforts to reverse this trend. CAMH will work with the government and partners across Ontario to improve the lives of people with mental illness.
Stabilizing funding for Ontario hospitals will help us improve access to care, reduce wait times and build important transitions to community and housing partners.
