CAMH Marks Completion of Phase 1C Redevelopment Project

On October 7, 2020, CAMH welcomed Premier Doug Ford and Ministers Christine Elliott and Michael Tibollo to mark the completion of Phase 1C of CAMH’s historic redevelopment.

Two new state of the art buildings at Queen and Ossington with approximately 600,000 square feet of space and 235 inpatient beds will open for care in November 2020. 

Government representatives joined Dr. Catherine Zahn, President and CEO, and Medhat Mahdy, Chair of the Board of Trustees, to cut the ribbon on the new location for the 24/7 Emergency Department at CAMH - the only emergency department devoted to mental health in the province. The updated and private spaces will enable patients to receive the best care possible during their time of crisis.

New therapeutic spaces in both the McCain Complex Care & Recovery Building and the Crisis & Critical Care Building include respectful and dignified spaces that will promote healing and recovery.

The CAMH redevelopment stands as a physical representation of the progress to end the prejudice and discrimination faced by people with mental illness – it stands as a testament of CAMH’s belief that Mental Health is Health.
