June 25, 2020 – Today, CAMH is pleased to release its new strategic plan, One CAMH, a three-year roadmap to the future of health.
The plan is an ambitious call to action for CAMH, its community and partners to redefine health together, and move towards a world where mental health is at the centre of the health care system.
Amidst a global pandemic that has amplified the interconnection of personal, social, environmental and political forces shaping health, that call has never been more urgently felt.
“The past few months have been so strongly imprinted by the global pandemic that is seems hard to turn our attention to the future,” says Dr. Catherine Zahn, President and CEO. “But we have a constant that grounds us: our belief that mental health is health, and that mental health is essential to the wellbeing of individuals and to society.”
Over the course of 18 months, CAMH engaged 1,500 people to help with the plan’s development, including patients, families and youth, system and community partners, and the people of CAMH.
“We wanted to know ‘What will better mean for CAMH?’” says Dr. Zahn. “The engagement process for this plan was something I will never forget. Thinking back, I am still overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and authenticity brought to this effort by everyone involved.”
