CAMH Education does One Brave Night Bollywood style!

They joined CAMH One Brave Night to raise awareness of mental health, especially in South Asian communities where the stigma around mental illness can be debilitating. The lack of support and culturally sensitive services create barriers that result in people not seeking the help they need. The Collective raised money in order to help CAMH improve access to care, conduct research to find better treatments and build more spaces for healing. The team met their fundraising goal by raising over $1,500 dollars.

They also added some South Asian flavour to the One Brave Night program by inviting Chaitra Raju, a classical and modern Indian dancer, to lead a Bollywood dance class. This energetic workshop taught participants to move like a Bollywood star, keeping them awake while having fun!

There were a host of other great activities on the night including table tennis, colouring, games, and a special dance performance from the UNITY Charity, and various presenters shared their own personal mental health stories. The evening also provided a great opportunity to network, meet new friends and reconnect with old friends and staff.

Thanks to all of the CAMH One Brave Night organizers for putting on a great staff event to raise awareness about the struggles faced by people affected by mental illness and substance use issues. We are looking forward to next year!
