November 6, 2019 TORONTO, ON - In recognition of TD's longstanding commitment to CAMH, and recent contribution of over $20 million (CDN), CAMH is pleased to present the 'TD Commons', a 7,100 square metre open space on CAMH’s Queen and Ossington site as part of the CAMH redevelopment project.
“TD has been an exceptional corporate partner to CAMH. They have raised the bar for corporate giving in Canada and we are grateful to them for helping us capitalize on this exciting time for mental health,” says Dr. Catherine Zahn, President and CEO, CAMH. “We know that everyone at CAMH and in our community will enjoy all that TD Commons has to offer and join us in thanking TD for its incredible generosity.”
TD has been a part of the CAMH community for many years, providing direct financial support to CAMH to help advance their work on this critical topic, operating a neighbouring branch that meets the needs of their employees and patients, and leading initiatives such as TD Tree Days and supporting The Sunshine Market Garden (Canada's first hospital organic garden) to help revitalize the campus.
"TD is deepening our support with CAMH, helping to create open, inclusive, respectful and dignified spaces that are designed to promote mental health recovery and contribute to breaking down stigma," said Andrea Barrack, Global Head, Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship, TD Bank Group.
According to a 2017 TD GreenSights survey, 95% of Canadians agree that access to community green spaces will be important to their quality of life in the future. In addition, green spaces have been widely shown to have a positive impact on mental health.
TD Commons will incorporate mixed-use green space, diverse trees, shrubs and plants, beautifully lit walking paths, benches, a pavilion, a children’s play zone, a wet play area and misting station, as well as an outdoor art installation.
