Recently, the Ontario Medical Association Physician Health Program and Portico teamed up to develop a series of videos on common mental health and addiction issues facing health professionals. Dr. Lisa Lefebvre shares a bit about the project.
Who are you and what is your position at CAMH?
My name is Lisa Lefebvre, and I am an addiction medicine physician at CAMH with a practice focused on workplace health. I am currently the Associate Medical Director at the Ontario Medical Association Physician Health Program and former medical lead for Continuing Professional Development in CAMH Education.
What project are you currently involved with?
Portico and the OMA’s Physician Health Program have collaborated to produce a series of videos that highlight the challenges faced by health care professionals today, including burnout, mental illness, addiction and behavioural issues. We focused on factors that contribute to these problems as well as potential solutions. We also included a video on the emerging area of civility in the workplace, which contributes to practitioner health and well-being.
What is the goal of this project?
The goal of this project was to make a series of videos covering hot topics from the health care literature and the lay press. We talked to experts in their fields and came up with a very watchable series of six videos ranging from three to eight minutes in length. Our hope is to inspire clinicians, researchers, administrators and policymakers to continue to create innovative solutions in order to improve the health of our health care workers and their workplaces and to restore joy to their practices.
Who is this project geared toward?
This project is geared toward health care professionals and those who plan and oversee their work as well as the general public, who have a vested interest in having a healthy and engaged health care workforce.
