At CAMH, we recognize that treating illness is not always enough. Our patients need connection with others, access to basic necessities and basic activities, and support transitioning back to the community. Through Gifts of Light, over 14,000 patients benefit each year from the resources and experiences that are offered by this unique patient-centred program.
Gifts of Light is a 100% donation-funded program that works with patients, families, and front line clinical staff to identify the patient wellness gaps in our system and support areas that do not receive ministry funding – with the goal of improving the patient experience.
About the Program
Gifts of Light understands the importance of providing patients with beneficial and accessible programs and experiences. We are committed to partnering with community organizations to bring specialty programming and events directly to our patients. Programs include art and music workshops, adventure excursions, fitness classes, trauma-informed yoga, monthly events and more.
Basic necessities, like a toothbrush and a pair of socks, mean everything to patients who arrive with nothing. Some patients stay for just a few days, while others stay for much longer - no matter how long they’re here, it can be a challenging time for people in crisis.
