Program Overview
Our services are available to individuals with a variety of goals, including those who want to try to quit or cut down, or who would like to gain more awareness about their drinking or drug use.
Our program is 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and we value and respect the unique needs and issues that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two-spirit (2SLGBTQ+) people face.
Who we are
Rainbow Services is staffed by professionals who are trained and experienced in counselling people with concerns about their use of alcohol and other drugs. We understand the issues that are specific to the lives of LGBTQ2S people that may affect their alcohol and drug use. Our services are respectful and tailored to meet the needs of our communities.
How it works
Clients are referred to Rainbow Service after having had an assessment by a physician or Nurse Practitioner in COMPASS. Clients then begin the staged model of weekly group therapy.
Our First Stage Group uses a combination of Motivational Interviewing and Structured Relapse Prevention to help clients formulate and begin to meet their substance use goals.
Our Second Stage Skills Group uses aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and skills from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy to help clients continue to meet their substance and wellbeing goals.
Our Interpersonal Groups are a safe space for clients to explore the deeper issues that have impacted their mental health and substance use.
At this time, our group-based programming is offered virtually. We have some ability to see clients in person.
Our services are confidential and covered by OHIP. In-town and out-of-town clients are all welcome.
