CAMH staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients, and families will celebrate Patient and Family Experience Week 2025 with a week of events and activities to honor the partnerships among patients, families, and staff working together to improve services and care at CAMH and beyond. This year, the events and conversations held will surround the theme of Empowerment.

Kick off our 2025 Patient & Family Experience Week with this panel discussion exploring the complexities of “Empowerment” from multiple directions. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Tara Burra, Medical Director, Quality, Experience, & Safety (QuEST) and includes a discussion geared towards knowledge exchange from lived experience advisors.

Sunshine Garden Greenhouse Tour and Crop Diversity Workshop

Location: Meet at RBC Patient and Family Learning Space, McCain Centre for Complex Care and Recovery, 1025 Queen Street West, ground floor.
Join us as we tour CAMH's FoodShare Sunshine Garden Greenhouse and learn about the biodiversity of the food forest. Dr. Javad Mozafari, Garden Coordinator from FoodShare, will share his knowledge about the different strategies for composting and nourishing soil. We will get our hands dirty while we learn together!
You'll come away with free seeds, a healthy snack, a bucket hat, and lots of information to help get you inspired for the growing season ahead!

Relaxed Patient and Family Experience Open House

Location: RBC Patient and Family Learning Space, McCain Centre for Complex Care and Recovery, 1025 Queen Street West, ground floor
You're invited to an open house hosted by the Patient and Family Learning Space (PFLS), Family Resource Centre (FRC), Empowerment Council, and Library. Join us for a relaxed, inclusive afternoon where patients and families can explore free programs and resources designed to support their journey. All expressions are welcome, and enjoy giveaways like fidget toys, stress balls, and helpful materials.

Unbreakable Beats: Songs of Empowerment

Location: TD Commons, (corner of Queen St. West and Shaw St. )
Join the Smile Serenades troupe in the TD Commons where they will be performing songs relating to the theme of empowerment. This is an outdoor event available to all and on a drop-in basis (no registration required).
A freeze dance competition will be held as part of this event (with awards!).
