Types of Treatment and Services Offered
Program Overview
Shkaabe Makwa Clinical Services provides outpatient groups and individual counselling to First Nations, Inuit and Métis experiencing substance misuse and mental health issues.
The treatment team includes social workers and Cultural Care Practitioners (Elders, Healers and Knowledge Sharers), with support from a consulting psychologist. Shkaabe Makwa Clinical Services blends therapeutic and psycho-educational groups with cultural programming and ceremonies as part of client care. In addition to other ceremonies, CAMH has an onsite Sweat Lodge that can be utilized as part of a patient’s treatment plan.
